Thrifty Pet Care
Last month it cost me $42 (w/a 1st time customer discount and including the tip) to have my dog, Belle, groomed. I've only had her for a few months and while I dogsit frequently for my friends, I've never owned a dog before Belle. I got a little queasy thinking about paying $50+ EVERY month for grooming and figured there must be a better way. I read a few sites on grooming Cairn terriers (she's a mutt, but she's mostly terrier) and after reading some product reviews, bought this Oster Animal Care Shed Blade today for about $4. After re-reading the directions a few times, I commenced to grooming. Well, let's just say...I'm in LOVE!!!!! It took some doing to keep her still (I had just come home from work and she thought the blade was a toy), but it was fairly easy to use. The loose hair literally flew off of her! Afterward, she looked pretty much like she did when she came back from the groomer's...well-kept and happy. The only thing missing was that little bow in her hair that only lasted 5 minutes anyway....I'll probably still have her face and nails done professionally, but it's nice to know that I can save at least $25 each month. **Sidenote: I'll make sure to put her on newspaper next time to collect the fur so I don't have to chase it and her.
